Marko Šetinc is a member of the Expert Council and expert associate of the Institute. He works in his own company Geopolis d.o.o. , which operates in the field of introduction of new technologies in chemical processes with a goal to make the systems simple and environmentally friendly. His research career began at the National Institute of Chemistry. He worked on the optimization of chemical processes and gained the knowledge on how to operate chemical processes, devices, systems and methods of analysis. In addition, he developed methods on effective management the processes. He continued his career in a consulting company, where he was involved in all phases of different projects, from design to implementation. In particular, he is erested in working on the development of sustainable systems. Thereafter he took a leading position in a start-up company for development of innovative systems. In addition to systems development he has also worked as audit for studies, patents, he wrote business and marketing plans, and he collaborated in the production of promotional materials and films.

His eager work in the environmental field, chemical processes, analysts and his scientific curiosity awoke his interest for cannabinoids. He decided to help the institute in realization of its projects with his extensive experiences about successful implementation of projects. In this way he will broaden his knowledge in this field and more active exploration of the chemical properties of the active ingredients of cannabis and ecological potential of the plant.

Marko Šetinc graduated and received his Ph.D. at the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology in Ljubljana. After that he continued to study on the Faculty of Economics, where he was awarded his second Ph.D.
